The Global Challenge
More than 500 million farmers across the world rely solely on rain water or surface irrigation methods to grow their crops, resulting in poor water supply, and ultimately, poor crop yields.
At Aggrico, we work to increase crop yields of small shareholder farmers, enabling them to earn a viable living from their land, uplifting them from poverty.
Our Vision
We envision a world where global food security is addressed by moving millions of smallholder farmers out of poverty, by increasing crop yields through affordable access to sustainable irrigation technologies.
About Us
Founded in 2018, Aggrico is a social enterprise with a mission to end rural poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa. Through the distribution of solar-powered irrigation tools, our aim is to increase the crop yields of small shareholder farmers and thereby enable them to improve farming productivity and build better livelihoods.
Working with multiple farmers on demonstration farms in Ghana and Kenya, we teach efficient, sustainable techniques on how best to grow and sell their produce. We currently have team members in Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Hong Kong and the UAE, and are in a rapid growth phase.
The Aggrico Solution
Designed with the smallholder farmer in mind, the Aggrico Solar Irrigation Kit is a plug and play solution, critically focusing on portability, ease of installation and efficient use of natural water resources. With zero running costs, proven to increase crop yields by up to 3x and reduce water usage by up to 60%, we provide a modern, semi-automated, and scientific method of irrigation through an affordable means.
Each Kit Includes
Each kit contains everything a farmer needs to irrigate 1,000 square meters (¼ acre) of land, straight out of the box.
Grade A 300W mono-crystalline solar panel captures solar energy and converts it into electricity. The panel is adjustable for tilt to further improve the harvesting efficiency of incoming solar radiation.
Using a clean renewable energy source, our solar pumps have zero running costs and are not dependent on an often-unreliable electrical grid.
The system is designed to work reliably in the harshest environments with minimal maintenance and no damage to the ecosystem.
24 volt/200 watt DC impeller pump, capable of delivering up to 20 L/minute, 1200L/hour and up to 6000L/day. An electronically controlled ‘run dry’ feature protects the pump in the event of the water level dropping. The pump may be used with
sandy water.
300 metres of durable spay tape, delivering an area saturation at a rate of up to 30,000 litres of water per day, with a 1000 m² irrigation – spray footprint with minimal maintenance and physical labour.
